Because 2 inches of hood and 2 inches of camera thickness, you are left with no room at all. I advise that you check at a local store with and without mounting the lens on camera. But the real question here is that how broad the hood is. Length of the lens without the hood is 11 inches. But thankfully now when I have measured it, it is 15 inches. Wonder if this will fit in there? Do you happen to know the total length of that central compartment?

It probably extends about 2-3 inches off the lens. It's much shorter, but seems to work just fine. Instead, I got a metal one that I leave screwed on all the time. This is probably along the lines of what I'm looking for. It's a nice feature if you don't want to shell out hundreds of additional dollars for yet another large multiple gear travel case.ĭdavisrfnet edited this topic 57 months ago. It's not a shoulder/back pack type of bag, but it does have a nice hand strap at the top of it for easy carrying, but it also has a long wide, thick velcro strap that runs down the back so that it can be added to/secured to a larger camera bag. Nice padding, high visibility yellow and has pouches for memory cards, lens filters, etc. It can hold the 200-500mm with the reversed lens hood with a Nikon camera body attached that doesn't have a battery grip attached and NOT a D2/D3/D4/D5 naturally.īest non-multiple camera/lens bag I have ever purchased. I bought the Ape Case ACPROLC18 (Large) camera bag. The only thing is there are two small slots where I guess SD cards can be stored, but no place to store an extra battery. There's an extra piece of padding on the bottom of the case and when that's removed, everything fits perfectly.

Unfortunately the lens hood is too big to be fitted inside the bag, so I hang it outside the bag. I keep the 200-500 attached to the camera (Nikon D7200) in central compartment. Are there bags that will hold this lens while it's still attached to a D7200? I have a regular backpack that works, but there's not really any padding.
